Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me. ~ Mark 9:37
The Great Commission is outlined in Matthew 28: 16-20 when Jesus said that we should go into all the world and proclaim the Gospel. We are excited to make shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child to make disciples of people in all nations by sharing the Gospel in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Our goal is for the Gospel of Jesus Christ to reach the ends of the earth, including places where people have not heard about the Lord. how much He loves children, and how those children can put their trust and faith in Him to have eternal life. Blessings in a Shoebox was created by two friends, Christy and Michelle, who were brought together by the Hand of God. We are both passionate about making shoeboxes for children. Our purpose for creating this website is to promote sharing God's love and Salvation through Christ. We collaborate and encourage others by offering resources, ideas, tutorials, and inspiration to make more and better shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. Operation Christmas Child is a focused ministry led by Samaritan's Purse. OCC shoeboxes are distributed to children throughout the world with an invitation to participate in the discipleship program, The Greatest Journey. The 12 lesson course teaches children Bible stories, Scripture, and ways to follow Christ. Over 23.3 million children have enrolled in The Greatest Journey program since 2009.
We are all on a shoebox journey learning and growing. We are learning about the places our shoeboxes may go with a desire to pack shoeboxes that will bless children who come from cultures different than ours. We respectfully learn from former shoebox recipients when they make suggestions on what they consider appropriate and inappropriate items.
Christy received Jesus as her Savior when she heard the Gospel for the first time at a Christian camp when she was 12 years old. She wants other children to have the same opportunity that she had. "I've been involved in children's ministry since 1998. I find children to be more open to the Gospel than most adults. That's why I love participating in Operation Christmas Child. They reach children I could never reach with the truth of the Gospel. Plus, making shoebox gifts is fun and easy! Each box represents a potential new life in Christ."
Michelle was introduced to the Gospel at an early age but her life was changed with conviction by God's Grace when she attended a summer Vacation Bible School program as a young child. "That summer changed my life. I have a firm belief in giving of myself and I've worked with disadvantaged youth in a variety of settings throughout my life both within the United States and in other countries. A friend introduced me to Operation Christmas Child when she invited me to an OCC reception many years ago. At the reception I met a young woman who grew up in Ukraine and received a shoebox when she was 6 years old. After hearing her testimony, I began packing shoeboxes. I pray that each child receiving my shoebox gifts feel God's Love and accept Jesus Christ as her/his Savior."
Blessings in a Shoebox is now an Amazon associate and, as an Amazon Associate we may earn from qualifying purchases. We are not affiliated with Samariatn's Purse but we believe in the OCC program and want to offer additional resources for other people who share our goal in serving God as commanded by the Great Commission. Our website is privately funded by us and we do not charge for any of the resources that we offer. Our intent is to serve God by packing shoeboxes that represent His love for His children. We share what we have learned through out years of packing shoeboxes all in the name of the Lord Jesus, our Savior, giving all glory to God.
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. ~James 4:10
